South College Atlanta to host free community health fair
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 19, 2026
South College will host a community health fair to offer free screenings and education to the public while providing students in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program additional opportunities to demonstrate patient care.
The event will take place Tuesday, March 24, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Atlanta campus, located at 2800 Century Parkway NE, on the eighth floor in room 810.
The health fair is free and no appointments are required.
Screenings include blood pressure and vital sign assessments, along with balance and grip strength evaluations.
“We’re inviting the public to visit us and learn about important health metrics that can help spot potential health risks early,” said Josh Huffaker, president of South College Atlanta.
The event is a collaboration with the South College OTD program and the Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA). Doctoral students will offer practical wellness tips and demonstrate how occupational therapy can help individuals live healthier, more independent lives.
“We continually seek to provide our students with opportunities to refine their skills and engage with the community,” Huffaker said.
The OTD program at South College includes comprehensive instruction in patient screening and evaluation of best practices; evidence-based care for patients across the lifespan; research methods, design and analysis; professional leadership and advocacy; and community-based practice and health promotion.
The program can be completed in two years for full-time students and offers a hybrid learning model with online courses taught by highly qualified faculty members and immersive learning at on-campus laboratories with modern equipment. Fieldwork experiences are completed at approved clinical sites.
