Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or MRI, is a medical imaging technique used to form pictures in order to diagnose and treat medical conditions.
South College’s Certificate in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program is provided at our Knoxville, Nashville, and Asheville locations. This program strives to prepare students for careers in the field of medical technology.
The curriculum is offered using a blended model: the clinical courses will be completed at South College affiliated health facilities, while the didactic courses are offered online. A rotation for both the clinical course and didactic course will be offered beginning in Summer 2017.
Students will master curriculum elements that are essential for a career in MRI. While in South College’s MRI program, students will learn how to competently apply basic protocols, recognize when and how to appropriately alter the standard protocol, recognize equipment and patient considerations that affect image quality, and maintain a safe MRI environment.
In order to be admitted to the MRI program, the applicant must be an RT and meet all other prerequisites. A person admitted to the RTX program must have a minimum of an associate degree (can be in anything) and meet all other prerequisites.
