If you are intrigued by how computers function and the security methods involved in protecting a network, then you are reading the right blog. Both the Knoxville and Nashville locations offer the Associate of Science in Network Administration and Security program.
The program is designed to provide students with the appropriate knowledge and skills to successfully install, configure, support and maintain computer network systems in a wide variety of environments. The program consists of lectures and hands-on computer instructions that will provide students with valuable education, allowing them to implement and monitor computer measures within different networks. Supplementary courses will also be taken during the program, including humanities, social science, mathematics and business areas. These supplemental courses will broaden knowledge by increased oral and written communication skills as well as critical thinking skills.
The knowledge and skills acquired through this program will help prepare students to successfully complete the Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator certification exam. The program also prepares students for other certification exams such as the CompTIA’s A+, Network+ and Security+ exams, as well as cisco’s CCNA exam. Earning certifications from these exams will be extremely beneficial for students, providing them with marketable and industry recognized credentials that backup their technical proficiency with computer hardware and software.
Students will also receive an in-depth education of current network security methods and tools that will prepare students to design secure networks, properly monitor and react to network intrusion attempts. After completing the program and earning a degree, students should be well-prepared to enter the workforce as an entry or junior level systems administrator, security, LAN/WAN administrator, technical support to end users or technicians in many different types of professional environments.
