Inspiring young man and current South College student, William Crunk, shared with us his experience in the Bachelor of Science in Health Science program.
What program are you in?
I’m in the Bachelor of Health Science Program.
Why did you choose that? What was the thought process for you and how did you make it happen?
I chose this program because of the fundamental studies it provides as I work toward going to Physician Assistant school.
Why did you choose South College?
I chose South College for several reasons. South provides an excellent academic environment with accessible and exceptional professors, smaller classrooms and accelerated programs.
Did you come back to school after working, raising a family, etc? Are you changing careers? Or are you coming straight out of high school? Describe that journey.
After four and a half years as a Combat Medic in the army, I knew, without question, that I wanted to practice medicine as a P.A. Initially I went to the University of Tennessee, but I knew there had to be a better path. Fortunately, I walked into the Parkside campus and spoke to Courtney, and the rest is history.
What is your favorite part of your studies?
My favorite part about my studies is the broad education centered on multiple philosophies in biology as well as organic chemistry and bio chemistry, especially.
What is your goal for after you graduate?
After graduation, I hope to attend South College’s P.A. program.
Do you have any advice for future students who might be in your same position?
My advice to future students is to stay positive and receptive. Attack your studies with all of your abilities and keep your desired destination in mind to stay motivated.
William also had wonderful things to say about his South College mentor, Dr. Shiv Dhar: “I’d like to thank Dr. Shiv Dhar for all his help, guidance and mentorship through my time so far here at South College. Dr. Dhar is the finest educator I have ever been fortunate enough to learn from and a tremendous asset to South College.”
