Why did you choose South College?
For me, big colleges were out of the question, so I explored the idea of smaller college. The first and only visit I made was South College – I wasn’t overwhelmed and felt at home.
How is South College helping you achieve your goals?
I started South College in January of 2017 and earned the Brew Science Certification. Then, I started working for Fanatic Brewing. Now, I’m continuing my education in Business Administration.
My goal is to own a camp ground and introduce campers to craft beer. With the knowledge I’m receiving at South College, I know this dream is finding direction! The GI Bill® and Yellow Ribbon program help make all this is possible.
What are your biggest influences?
It all started with a counselor at Fort Campbell telling me that military experience is great – put a college degree with it and the world is yours!
My wife Leanne is my biggest influence. She has a Master’s in Education and a small business of her own, so she knows what it takes to be successful. Marty, the owner of Fanatic Brewing, has also been very supportive of my education goals.
I’m also inspired in class by seeing working, single moms making a better future for their families. You see that often at South College.
What advice would you give those wanting to follow in your footsteps to the career you chose?
Take that initial step! The more work you put into it, the more you get out of it, just like everything.
What would you want people to know about South College and your program of study?
I like South College because of the other students and the teachers that go out of their way to make sure you are good. The administration seems to really care. That’s what I like about South College – we are family.
