Keys to Success

While many of the same personality traits that lead to success in the Computer Science field, like passion, perseverance, and attention-to-detail, are essential for a role in the Data Science concentration, they aren’t the only traits you’ll need.

Often, students with backgrounds or interests in mathematics, statistics, or even business are the ones who excel in the Data Science concentration. This is because this field often focuses more on the outcomes of the data and what it indicates, rather than simply focusing on collecting it.

Roles within the Data Science field often concentrate on designing unique ways to filter through the massive amounts of data that flow through network systems. They then extract actionable insights and advise on strategies to make businesses more efficient and effective.

Success at South College

Adam Hatcher

I went to college originally straight out of high school with the intent of majoring in musical performance with a concentration in theoretical studies. I was not prepared to for college at that point, so I decided to gain some experience and maturity by joining the work force full-time. After working for 10 years, I felt it was time to try school again.

Anjali Doshi

I am currently in the Bachelor’s of Business Administration program with a Concentration in Accounting. I felt that given my personal interests, strengths, and skills, that a career in accounting would be the right choice. Also, I wanted to choose something that had the potential to allow work/life balance in the future as both are important to me.
