CAN PRE-REQUISITE COURSES STILL BE IN PROGRESS WHEN I APPLY TO THE PHARMACY PROGRAM?

For the South College School of Pharmacy, pre-requisite courses can still be in progress during the application process to get into the pharmacy program. Courses should be listed as In Progress or Planned on the PharmCAS application as appropriate. Once the courses conclude, students should directly update the South College School of Pharmacy and will need to complete an academic update through PharmCAS for PharmD Program. For any coursework that is not verified through PharmCAS, an official transcript with final grades must be sent directly to the South College School of Pharmacy.

THE SOUTH COLLEGE SCHOOL OF PHARMACY PRACTICES ROLLING ADMISSIONS. WHAT DOES ROLLING ADMISSIONS MEAN AND HOW DOES IT AFFECT ME?

Rolling admissions means that applications to the accelerated pharmacy program are evaluated as they are received instead of waiting to evaluate all applications after the deadline. Acceptances to pharmacy school are also offered throughout the admissions cycle until all seats are filled. Because of the rolling admissions process, applicants are encouraged to apply early to the PharmD Program.

WHAT ARE SOME HELPFUL HINTS FOR COMPLETING MY PHARMCAS APPLICATION FOR PHARMD PROGRAM?

Write your essay in a word document to utilize spellcheck and help with proofreading. Then, copy and paste the essay into PharmCAS. PharmCAS does not have a spellcheck feature. Reference letters are submitted directly to PharmCAS. We recommend giving your reference letter writers a deadline. Reference letters are also referred to as Evaluations throughout the PharmCAS process. It is helpful to order 2 transcripts from each school you attended – one to be sent to PharmCAS as required, and one for yourself. This is not only good practice for your professional career with a pharmacy degree, but will also assist greatly with the input of your coursework into your PharmCAS application. Pay close attention to detail throughout the entire application. Provide as much information as you can, double check for typos, make sure dates are correctly listed, etc. Pharmacy is a field filled with detail, so demonstrating attention to detail is important. Fill out even the optional portions of the application if you have information available. It is important for schools to get a full picture of a candidate and this can only be done when all pertinent information is listed including work experiences and extracurricular activities. Experiences obtained during undergraduate education and beyond should be included for pharmacy program, while high school experiences are generally not pertinent to the pharmacy school application process.

WHAT INTERNATIONAL TRANSCRIPT EVALUATION COMPANIES ARE ACCEPTED FOR THE PHARMACY PROGRAM?

PharmCAS requires all international transcript evaluations be completed with World Education Services (WES, www.wes.org). As the South College School of Pharmacy requires all applicantions to come through PharmCAS, WES evaluations are the only international transcript evaluations accepted by the South College School of Pharmacy to get into the PharmD Program.

I ALREADY HAVE A DEGREE IN HEALTHCARE (OR RELATED SCIENCE). CAN I TRANSFER IN SOME OF MY CREDITS AND FINISH THE 3-YEAR ACCELERATED PHARMACY PROGRAM CURRICULUM IN LESS TIME?

PharmCAS requires all international transcript evaluations be completed with World Education Services (WES, www.wes.org). As the South College School of Pharmacy requires all applications to come through PharmCAS, WES evaluations are the only international transcript evaluations accepted by the South College School of Pharmacy to get into the PharmD Program.

I ALREADY HAVE A DEGREE IN PHARMACY FROM OUTSIDE THE US. WHAT ARE MY NEXT STEPS?

Your first step is to have your degree and coursework evaluated through World Education Services (WES, www.wes.org). Once you have a WES evaluation completed, you are welcome to contact us to complete a pre-requisite evaluation to determine which, if any, pre-requisites are still needed from your degree. International students still need to apply through PharmCAS as well.
