South College proudly participates in the Tennessee Promise program for high school seniors. We have a number of programs that are eligible for Tennessee Promise participants that we will tell you more about, but first, we will give you a little bit of information about what the Tennessee Promise program is and how it can benefit you as a student or prospective student.
High school seniors can apply for the Tennessee Promise scholarship, which will provide two years of tuition-free attendance at a community or technical college, or four-year colleges with eligible two-year programs in Tennessee. The Tennessee Promise scholarship will cover tuition and fees not covered by the Pell grant, the HOPE scholarship, or state student assistance funds. Tennessee Promise participants must complete eight hours of community service per term enrolled, as well as maintain satisfactory academic progress – which is at least a 2.0 GPA.

Associate of Science in Accounting
The accounting degree program is designed to provide students with the appropriate knowledge and skills necessary in the accounting field. Accounting positions may be found in business, health, government, manufacturing, and social services. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of jobs for bookkeeping, accounting, and auditing clerks is estimated to grow 11 percent by 2022.
Associate of Science in Business Administration
The Associate of Science in Business Administration degree will help prepare you to be equipped with the necessary skills to manage effectively, develop marketing plans and analyze finances.
Associate of Science in Criminal Justice
Whether you want to be a police officer, crime analyst, FBI agent or something similar, a degree in criminal justice will put you on the path to get there. It will provide you with educational and training experiences in the criminal justice field, including policing, private security, private investigations, parole, probation and crime analysis. Also, the South College criminal justice program will help prepare you for admission to local or state police academies.
Associate of Science in Medical Assisting
The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects medical assisting jobs to grow 29 percent by 2022 – much higher than the national average. At South College, we can help you prepare for a career as a medical assistant in just two years. The associate degree in medical assisting will prepare you for entry-level jobs managing doctor’s offices, maintaining records, arranging laboratory tests and assisting with hospital admissions.
Associate of Science in Elementary Education
If you love working with children, then a degree in elementary education from South College is something you should consider. These degrees are designed to fully equip you to instruct and shape the educational experience of the next generation. As an elementary school teacher, you will plan lessons, assess students, communicate with parents/guardians, help students overcome specific learning challenges and prepare students for standardized tests.
Associate of Science in Health Science
These pre-professional health science degrees are designed to prepare you for graduate studies in medicine, biological sciences, chemistry and more. Even if graduate school isn’t part of your plan, a degree in health science can help you earn a position in fields such as food science, chemistry or biology. Upon completion, students can pursue a path to Radiography, Physical Therapist Assistant, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or Nursing.
Associate of Science in Paralegal Studies
A degree in legal studies is your entrance to a career in the field of law. These degrees will allow you to continue toward law school with the possibility of working as a paralegal along the way. Even if law school isn’t in your thoughts, these degrees will help prepare you to be a paralegal or legal assistant. The field of paralegals and legal assistants is predicted by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics to grow 17 percent by 2022, which is faster than the national average for all occupations.
